Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
is 147 high blood sugar level? I had not eaten in over 14 hours but had a few cocktails. This number came up as high in my blood results from hospital. Had a fall. I m a 68 year old female. Could this mean type 2 diabetes? It had previously been 103.
Hello dear I understand your concern Normal fasting blood sugar is 70-106 mg/dl. So 147 mg/dl is high. It could be diabetes. But cocktail also cause increase in the blood sugar. Following results suggests diabetes: Fasting blood sugar: >=126 mg/dl on two occasions Post meal 2 hour blood sugar: >= 200 mg/dl on two occasions Hb1Ac: > 6.5 % So i would to suggests to go for 10-10 hour fasting blood sugar test without cocktails, post meal blood sugar and HbA1c to confirm about the diabets. Hope this may help you
