Is Breathing Through The Mouth Safe For An Infant?
My toddler who is 15 months old keeps his mouth open most of the time. His tongue fits between his teeth and he wont close his mouth. Even at night, he breathes through mouth. He is a good eater and on breast feed still though. I am concerned whether it could affect him or its just a phase? Thank you!
As per your query, your toddler has habit of mouth breathing which is mainly due to enlarged adenoids and could be due to dry mouth which leads to dehydration. Visit periodontist once and get it examined and maintain oral hygiene.
Give child plenty of water, and stop giving spicy and sharp food substances. Go for device construction to avoid this habit if periodontist advice so after complete examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
