Is Brown Mucous Discharge A Side Effect Of Using Cilest ?

I ve recently changed contraceptive pills (from dianette to cilest). Have been taking cilest for three weeks now. Due to period problems, my doctor has advised I take the packs back to back and not have a break. I have had brown mucous discharge since I started cilest. My question is, is this likely to settle in time, or should I speak to the doctor again? Thanks in advance

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Brown discharge is generally commonly encountered when birth control pills are changed. It is due to the pushing of certain retained mucosal tissue of the previous cycle. It should stop over a period of 2 to 3 months.
Hence, you need not be worried about it now. Kindly take the pills as advised by your doctor.
In case you experience such effects and does not subside, you can get evaluated by your doctor.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
