Is Bump On Top Of Head Post Injury A Serious Cause For Concern?
hi, I hit my head at work around 10 pm, it hurt pretty bad and i felt a little dizzy and saw black for a second when i got up. I feel fine now and have a bump, i dont want to wake my parents up to take me to the ER, especially if it s nothing. I hit my head on the top and like i said there is a bump and the whole top of my head is a little soar. My boss said the usually with head injuries if you get a bump thats a good sign because its probably and external injury rather than internal, but he also isn t a doctor. Does it sound like something that is ok?; Or even something that can even wait till the morning? Thanks.
DEAR SIR HI A BUMP ON TOP OF HEAD WITH ONLY MILD PAIN IS NOT A CAUSE OF CONCERN . IT MAY BE A LOCAL INJURY WITH SCALP HAEMATOMA ONLY . MILD TRANSIENT DIZZINESS ETC . MAY ALSO BE BENIGN . BUT PLEASE WATCH FOR SYMPTOMS LIKE INCREASING HEADACHES / DROWSINESS / NAUSEA /VOMITINGS /OR SEVERE GIDDINESS . CONSULT A DOCTOR IF THESE SYMPTOMS APPEAR . A CT HEAD MAY BE NEEDED TO RULE OUT ANY INTERNAL INJURY. YOUR BOSS,S COMMENT THAT EXTERNAL INJURY IS SAFER ,IS NOT CORRECT. THANX DR PRAVEEN K NATH
