Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my nine year old developed three bumps on her lower left side of her tummy they look like mosquito bites but now have puss inside and tonight we found two more bumps on her upper right and they have red spot around them. I am sure she had her varicella shot, she had all her vaccination?
This kind of dew drop lesions are seen typically in chicken pox though it must be confirmed clinically. Generally there is prodromal symptoms present in this infection, like fever, malaise, headache, nausea etc. But its not present in all cases of varicella infection. Chicken pox vaccination combines two shots. One at 12-18 months of age and another at 4-6 yrs of age. As vaccination does not give 100% protection from the disease there is a chance of getting infected. Early diagnosis and early starting of acyclovir therapy have significant role on prognosis of this disease. Virulence of this disease is low in vaccinated children.
