Is Burning Sensation In The Knee Normal Post Knee Replacement Surgery?

I have had both knees replaced two years apart. When I walk or stand for any length of time I have burning sensation from below my knees to my feet. is this normal after knee replacement surgery? I did complete all my Physical therapy. I do have varicose veins and wear compression stockings from the knee down. So I am not sure what is causing the pain. Dianne YYYY@YYYY

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The burning sensation could be related to nerve pain or varicose veins. For this reason, I recommend taking magnesium supplements. If this does not help, I recommend performing nerve conduction studies in order to investigate for peripheral neuropathy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
