Is Bypass Operation The Only Option If The Arteries Are Fully Blocked?

age 57 male 5' 8" 200 lbs one heart attack, heart fraction 23 two left arteries 100 per cent blocked good co latteriad blood flow from right arterie. no chest plain and feel find besides some shortness of breath. told should have by pass however the operation wont make me feel better

Hi and thank you for asking to HCM!

The bypass surgery is not the only option at your case.

The first option is medical therapy that is the only treatment option that prolong your life expectation and survival after heart attack.

Second option is to try coronary angioplasty and stenting. In the case that the arteries are 100 % blocked this is difficult but still can be done (you say that there's a good co lateral flow).

Third option is bypass surgery.

Please talk with your doctor about this options.
