Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Cataract Surgery Recommended While Suffering From Common Cold?
I am scheduled for cataract surgery and think I may be coming down with a cold. Should I reschedule? I have a brunescent cataract and should have surgery asap and I also have pseudo exfoliation syndrome. I won t be able to have the surgery until September, if I don t have it now.
It will be better to reschedule the surgery for a later date. Upper respiratory tract infection and cold may interfere with the anaesthesia and might cause unwanted complications. Your the anaesthetist will explain more details.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
