my husband 67 yrs had colon surgery 3 mo. ago was told all clear. cea level has gone up to 14. all test ct pet mri are all normal. dr. suggests he have chemo as a precaution but he isnt comfortable with that. he is seeing chiropractor for sore neck. has no symptoms of anything wrong. YYYY@YYYY

Elevated CEA levels indicates recurrence of the tumor which may not be detected in CT or PET scan. It is better to start chemotherapy early than to wait for a full blown recurrence.
