Is Chemotherapy Required If Blasts Are Present In Bone Marrow?
My son, 49, diagnosed with AML, has had 2 rounds of chemo. Bone marrow biopsy tomorrow. Today no blasts showed up in blood test. Is this a good sign? If blasts are present in bone marrow, would you recommend a third round of chemo? He is at the U of A Medical Center in Tucson.
Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. He is suffering from acute myeloid leukemia. No blast in the bone marrow after 2 round of chemotherapy is a good sign. How many round of chemotherapy needed is depend on the type of AML and other parameters like blood and bone marrow study. You should continue your tratment accordingly.
