Why Is Chemotherapy Repeated On Reoccurring Leukemia?
Hi, 6may, I aswer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...
My son's friend, 16, was diagnosed with lukemia last July. After chemo and a bone marrow transplant, he appeared to be on the mend and going back to school this year. He became ill with flue like symptoms and was just told his lukemia was back and to make a long story short, he would basically have to repeat this last year. Why does he have to do chemo and bone marrow transplant and not just bone marrow transplant and what is the success rate the 2nd time around?
Dear, After chemotherapy and Bone Marrow transplant recurrence should not have been so fast. if the disease has really recurred he needs to undergo repeat induction. Since the relapse of the disease is so fast the prognosis is unlikely good but treating him will give him another remission for sometime more, Truly, Dr. J. Ticku
