Is Chronic Pain In Between The Ribs Due To A Fractured Rib?
weeks. Last week I bent over to pick something up and my right side instantly hurt and has not went away. I have taken 600 milgrams of Ibp along with two extra strength tylenol for the past week and no change. I have never had a broken or fractured rib before but was told by someone it might be that. What I am concerned about as it hurts when I walk or do anthing and feels like something is getting stuck or expanding and contracting in that area when I am walking or that something is stuck in between the ribs and sends a huge pain. Does that sound like a fractured rib?
Fracture of a rib would occur as a result of direct trauma to the chest example a fall or if the area was struck. Based on your description, it is possible that you may have a muscle spasm. This would cause pain with movements and cause the abnormal expanding/contracting sensation that you are experiencing. You can continue your anti-inflammatory medication but a muscle relaxant should be added, this may require a prescription from your doctor. In addition, a warm compress to the area 2 to 3 times a day may be helpful as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
