Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Dear Sir, I am 56 years married man and gone through with the Angioplasty 1 stent in LAD 2 years back. I used to smoke 40 cigarettes a day before my angioplasty which I quit, but now I started again to smoke 10 cigarettes a day from last 10 months. I do morning walk regularly. My diet is just perfect, means no fat no salt. I am feeling every thing just good. May I continue my smoking or ????
Hi, Your question is similar as one asks to continue having poison in small dose, after being admitted and treated for it once. Let me tell you, smoking increased the rate of again having Ischamic disease, several folds to those who dont smoke. Even in smaller doses like once a week, has similar effect. So i would advice you to strictly follow healthy living habits. Secondly you said you are on "perfect diet, with no fat no salt", that is not correct, and we advice patients to have low salt low fat diet. Consult a cardiac dietitian for further help.
Regards
