I am female, 72, a healthy and active hiker. I have had two colonoscopies. in 2006 a small tubulovillious polyp was removed. another procedure in 2009 with 3 hyper plastic tiny (.2 cm, .3cm and .4 cm) polyps which were removed. I ve been researching the literature and it seems that I may NOT need another colonoscopy now, and that a fecal blood test may be adequate. Or even a flexible sigmoidoscopy. However, the doc in town says no to those tests and I wonder if it is a matter of paying for her beautiful new facility that she insists on the colonoscopy now. I want to wait another year. Am I being foolish? I see that the tests are not required after age 75.
