Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Sir, my mother (aged 63) suffering from right abdominal pain for last 10-12 days... underwent CT Scan and USC of lower abdomen... reports reveal presence of lesion in Caecum... feeling tired and weaker... doctor suggested colonoscopy...please suggest us any good treatment... can it lead to colon cancer?
If a mass is found in the bowel (caecum is a part of the bowel) then colonoscopy is important to reach the mass and get some sample for biopsy to make sure what is causing it.
So the colonoscopy is a diagnostic measure and is very important to be done. According to the results of what the doctor sees in colonoscopy and the biopsy results the diagnosis of cancer will be ruled out or ruled in and the proper treatment should follow.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Antoneta Zotaj,
