Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Compression Socks Advisable To A Patient With COPD And Osteo- Arthritis?
I am a 65 yr old male with mild, but worsening, bi-lateral stasis eczema, and 4-5 nose bleeds in the last 6 weeks. I have COPD and osteo- arthritis. Meds include bupropion, diclofenac, omeprazole, albuterol, and Spiriva. Also taking Vit D and B12. I am clean and sober for 6 plus years, but have a 40 year history of alcohol abuse. Should I be wearing compression socks?
Osteoarthritis needs the local support of knee cap or segmental bandages rather than compression socks. Compression socks are basically only for deep vein thrombosis, certain people with lymphatic derangements.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Purva Patel
