Is Consuming Milk Of Magnesia Safe For Constipation For A 16-month-old?
Hi, my daughter (13 months old) suffers terribly with constipation, I have tried glycerine suppositories and she was prescribed movical. she has also been to an osteopath 4 times it works initially but seems to struggle again after a few weeks. Is it safe to try milk of magnesia?
Yes, it is considered safe for the 16-month old child. Milk of magnesia is quite safe for young children with constipation. It may be administered in the dose of 5 to 10 mL orally once a day or in divided doses.
I also suggest your daughter should drink more fluids and eat more fiber-containing foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole-grain cereals and breads, nuts, seeds and beans.
Besides the underlying cause of constipation if any should be determined by her doctor and treated accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
