Is Consumption Of Lactare Safe To Increase Breast Milk?

HI Doctor , I have 3 months old baby . My wife is using lactare tablets from past 3 months. she is having daily 6 tablets. If she have the tablets she can give milk to baby. if she stops for 1 days milk was not coming for the baby. Still how long she need to have it . Is it safe to have a lactare tablets 6 per day for long time? Please suggest.

Hi,

Yes, she can use it for few more months but it's better to decrease the dose than abruptly stopping it to confirm lactation without it. The need of such high dose may not persist but calcium and vitamin D3 supplements can help with lactation. Keep good balanced diet. Meanwhile, weaning of child will decrease milk requirements and addition of other soft diets with a pediatrician review should be started.
