Is Contraceptive Pill Effective When Taken Before Intercourse?

I am on penicillin antibiotics for tonsilitis, I have been on and off taking them for about 10 days now, I took one dose this morning after breakfast. I am also on micrognon 30 contraceptive pill and took one today at lunch time, I had unprotected sex today at about 4pm, will the pill be successful in preventing pregnancy still?

Hi,

Oral pills need regular intake. If you are taking pills regularly. It would definitely prevent conception but taking a pill before sex is a wrong notion for contraception. You should not relay on such method.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
