Is Creatinine Value Of 1.11 A Cause For Concern?

Hello, I have Fabry s disease. I am a 49 year old woman, and my creatinin levels have always been normal. I have been feeling terrible lately (the last 2 years) and found out today my level of creatinin is 1.11. This is a concern because my kidneys must function well or it means the Fabry s disease is having its effect. How do I bring down my creatinin levels and what should my course of action be next?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is better to estimate the glomerular filtration rate. If the filtration rate is less than 60 ml/min/1.73 m2 it is an indication of renal function disorder. In light of your medical history you need to refer to a nephrologist to monitor your kidney function regularly and based on the GFR suitable treatment will be given.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
