Please suggest me the medicine to get periods........or if i get symptoms of pregnancy how to avoid this ... I have done unsafe sex 16 days ago, my upcomming period date had gone 2 days back, but till today i did not got the periods. I am much worried about this ...

Hi & Welcome.

Yes, since you had an unprotected sex 16 days ago, the delayed period could be due to an early pregnancy. First get the pregnancy test done on an early morning urine sample and consult a gynecologist even if it is negative.

If the pregnancy test is positive and you do not wish to continue the pregnancy your doctor will prescribe medications like Mifepristone and Misoprostol.

Since there is a high risk of complications like severe vaginal bleeding, abdominal cramps, infection and incomplete abortion you should not take the above medications without consulting a gynecologist.

If your pregnancy test is negative and period is still delayed, your doctor will prescribe medication like Norethisterone to induce the bleeding.
