Is Diastolic Blood Pressure Value Of 122/94 A Cause For Concern?
Hi Doctor, I have noticed lately that my diastolic pressure has been increasing over the past 3 weeks. I have always had pressure readings of between 100-120 for systolic and 65 - 80 for diastolic for the past 25 years. Now last 3 weeks it has been between 110 - 122 systolic and 82 - 94 for diastolic. My diet in the last 2 years has been very good because I had to adjust it after I was diagnosed with familial hypercholestrolemia and was put on Crestor 10 mg since January taking it for 3 months and then a break of 1 month and taking for 1 month and then a break like that and now I am on the 1 month breaking ending today so from tomorrow I will start Crestor again for 1 month all the while being told to monitor cholestrol levels with occasional tests every 2 months. Also I noticed that Crestor interfered with my sleep patterns by causing insomnia when I took it a night and getting only 3 - 4 hours sleep at night so I changed to take it in the morning and this helped me sleep better. Is there a reason for this sudden gradual increase in diastolic pressure especially today where reading was 122/94? Thank you
The values of diastolic blood pressure above 85 mmHg, are considered abnormal. So, you should get checked by a Cardiologist for this problem. Also, substitution of Crestor should be considered since it is causing adverse effects.
