Is Discomfort In The Shoulder Joint Be Due To Muscle Injury?
I was in a collision on the basketball court where I and another player collided pretty violently. I got up and continued to play, even though I felt some discomfort. This happened about 8 weeks ago and I still have some discomfort in the outside, back of the shoulder joint. I don t believe it s a muscle injury because I can still work out doing push ups and shoulder presses. But I still have some discomfort in what feels like a tendon or ligament. Also, if I make a certain movement I will get a sharp pain, that is literally just for a second. That happens very sporadically. It seems to be getting better because when I do a shoulder workout I can complete the workout without any sharp pain . Is this a minor dislocation, or something else?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Rotator cuff injury or ligament injury can cause such symptoms. Subluxation of shoulder joint is possible in this case also. A physical examination by orthopedician followed by X ray and MRI will be helpful to rule out this. Muscle strengthening exercises and physiotherapy will be helpful in mild to moderate cases. If there is more instability then arthroscopic surgery will be helpful to clear it.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
