Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Discontinuing Benazapril Advisable While With Anxiety And BP Issues?
My endocrinologist has put me on a low iodine diet prior to an iodine uptake test. My cardiologist said to stop taking Benazapril and Crestor for the two weeks. That was in response to an inquiry about the red dye contained in the medication. I m also on serotonin and lorazepam. I m afraid to stop taking those two medications when I have long-standing blood pressure issues and reset anxiety issues which affect the blood pressure. Recommendations?
Benazepril belongs to a group of blood pressure medicines called ACE inhibitors. If your cardiologist has asked you to stop the drug then there must be a valid reason.
Stopping Crestor, which is used to lower cholesterol, will hardly make a difference if it has been done temporarily. Please share your concerns with your cardiologist who will give you reasons to stop it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
