Is Doxycycline The Correct Medication For Mycoplasma Pneumonia And What Diet Is To Followed?
HI, I was diagnosed with Mycoplasma Pneumonia. I ve been on doxycycline for two weeks and don t feel any better, if not, worse. Is this a good antibiotic to treat this illness? What foods should I eat or not eat, please? Thank you very much, Lynne
Doxycylin is good drug and covers mycoplasma but the problem with doxycyclin is now a days mycoplasmas are resistant to it. So better to start with azithromycin 500 mg 1 od for 5 days. And if you are more symptomatic than also take levofloxacin 500 mg 1od for 5 days. This will cover other bacteria also. And about food I must say avoid steal food, take plenty of fluids, avoid ice creams and cold drinks for 1 week.
