Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that your husband is having a
Dental Abscess formation secondary to infection in tooth as you already told that he has bad teeth..
When the infection reaches below the root tips of the tooth there is Pus formation that perforated the bone and collect in soft tissues leading to
swollen gums and also facial swelling..
As Pus is draining out that's why the swelling is reducing but will not provide permanent relief..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
He can advise
x Ray of the infected tooth/teeth..
In case if tooth is in a condition to be saved he can start Tooth Canal Treatment under antibiotic cover..
In case of gross decay extraction will be advised..
It should not be delayed as it can lead to spread of infection deeper in tissues..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.
