Is Drinking Alcohol Safe While Having Peptic Ulcer On Esophagus?

I have a peptic ulcer on my esophagus. My doctor still hadn t treated me with any antibiotics since we re still waiting for all my test results to come back, so right now I m just on acid reducer pills, I know you aren t suppose to drink with having an ulcer, but would a little red wine be safe to drink, or is it still best to not drink any type of alcohol?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Alcohol is a mucosal irritant of oesophagus and stomach. Even if the ulcer is healed due to medication, it always carries a risk of damage to it or neighboring structures when you drink alcohol. It is therefore suggested to totally avoid it.
