Is Drinking Wine Safe While On Clopidogrel?

I had some series of chest pain several months ago and my doctor requested ecg and blood test. Ecg showed that I had rbbb and I was anemic at the same time. My doctor gave clopidogrel as my maintenance for 3months. Then I repeated my ecg and blood test which both came out as normal but I keep on taking clopidogrel per doctor s advice. but nowadays, I m having a series of chest pains. So im worried. Is it possible that 2nd ecg was wrong? Can I drink wine while taking clopidogrel? Will having sex affect my health or not advisable in my condition?thanks

I can completely understand your concern.

Clopidogrel keeps your blood from coagulating (clotting) to prevent unwanted blood clots that can occur with certain heart or blood vessel conditions. Because of this drug action, clopidogrel can make it easier for you to bleed, even from a minor injury.

At times,drinking alcohol,results in spontaneous vomiting,and gastritis,this may rarely lead to digestive tract bleeding. therefore its advised to Avoid drinking alcohol. It may increase your risk of bleeding in your stomach or intestines.

Although,it causes rarely,but now,Your main concern should be the series chest pains,you have been suffering from.I recommend you to consult the cardiologist,about the same,as he can auscultate your chest,and know the exact cause for your chest pains.He may also advise you for a repeat ecg,or even an ECHO.Further assessment is a must for you.

Having an intercourse is advisable in your condition.
