Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi,I m 6 weeks pregnant my doctor suggested me to take endogest 100(twice a day) and Folinine tablets.I m bit worried to take endogest 100 as I read in some article that this tablet is not safe.Pls let me know whether it is good to have these tables or not.
Endogest is micronized progesterone identical to the progesterone produced by ovary. It is generally used to maintain pregnancy and avoid miscarriage and pre-term labor. Of course, its use in pregnancy is a matter of debate, particularly in patients with normal range of progesterone. Still, its use in pregnancy will not cause any particular noticeable side effects except in a vary rare cases high level of progesterone may cause congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
