Is Endoscopy Recommend If Hb Has Increased After Internal Bleeding?

my father is 73 years old. he is a heart patient . recently he had taken a painkiller for cold and after that he had an intenal bleeding for which an endoscopy was done. the endoscopy could not show the exact point of bleeding and the docto has again suggested that a capsule endoscopy to be done. no his heamoglobin count has increased from 9 to 9.6. is capsule endoscopy a must.

Welcome to HCM and thank you for the query.
I appreciate your concern for your father.
If your father had taken an non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug ( NSAID) like Brufen for the cold, it could be the cause for his gastrointestinal bleeding.
If his haemoglobin is steady or rising, it indicates that the bleeding has stopped and capsule endoscopy may not add much to the management.
What he requires now is a proton pump inhibitor in proper dose to prevent a re -bleed and he should avoid pain killers, spicy food and acidic substances along with caffeinated beverages.
