Is Epileptic Episode Linked To Recent Tooth Braces Being Placed?

Hi Doctor,
My son 11 years and 3 months diagnosed with epilepsy on July start medication on 1/9 ( Soduim valporate) and was free of seizure from 13/9 to 20/12 and question if the onset of this episode link to the recent tooth braces placed recently ( 4 days before seizure)' think to remove ASAP , please advice

Hi,

It is unlikely that your son is having epilepsy because of tooth braces. For epilepsy to occur, cause in the brain must be investigated. This may require a CT scan and EEG tests.

The onset of seizures after 3 months seizure free interval suggests that
The compliance may be poor
Or the dose may be insufficient if he has picked up weight recently (pubertal growth)
This has no relation to the tooth braces.
