Is Evaluation Necessary For Severe Bouts Of Vertigo?

I had a severe bout of vertigo about 12 years ago after my husband suddenly died. Since then I constantly stay dizzy if I turn my head to the left or if I lay down and pull my head up. I know it is still the vertigo, do I need to see a doctor if I tolerate it? A nurse recently told me I should be evaluated for this, I just thought it was something I would have to live with?

Otolaryngologist/ENT Doctor 's  Response
Hi,
The brief clinical history you provided is suggestive of a condition called positional vertigo (episodes of dizzness by assuming certain positions of head). This condition can be controlled well with medications.

The nurse is right, you should consult an ENT specialist for proper evaluation and treatment.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Prasad
