Is Excessive Ear Wax A Sign Of Infection?

my 7 month old was very unhappy yesterday and cried a lot. This morning I noticed that her right ear has a lot of wax which has dried and crusted in the outer ear. There were also yellow patches on her cot sheet which I presume was wax. When I went to touch the ear today she complained, should I assume this is an ear infection and will it heal itself or do I need to see a doctor tomorrow?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Wax is normal in human beings .There is no bad in it. But if this wax is causing pain then you need to visit an ENT surgeon . He will remove the wax and see the ear. Take Waxil ear drop 5 times per day x 1 week .

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
