Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Excessive Urination In A Parkinson S Patient Normal?
I urinate maybe 3 or 4 times per day. Don t drink a lot of fluids, but urinate over 16 oz. of fluid when I do urinate. This does not cause any leakage at all, but is something that has developed over the last 6 months. I am a 67 year old female with Parkinson s. Is this something I should be concerned about?
The most common urinary difficulty experienced by people with Parkinson's Disease is a frequent and urgent need to urinate. This may occur even when the bladder is not full.
Symptoms such as urgency, frequency, nocturia significantly impact the quality of life of persons with Parkinson's.
Because there are so many reasons for frequent urination, there is no one way to stop it.
A proper diet, avoiding excess fluids can reduce urinary frequency. Kegel exercise (pelvic floor exercise) will also help keeping pelvic floor muscles well-toned and eventually will help control urinary incontinence.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
