Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been blind in my right eye since 1984 and wear a contact over my eye that looks like an eye but my eye is worsening with pain and their is no cure for my eye cause it is all deteriated. I got a parasite in my eye from going to lake hartwell memorial day weekend in 1984. but I need a eye replacement and would like to know how the new technology can help me
Thanks for your consultation at HCM ! I have gone through your case , as a your physician I can tell you that so far whole eye transplantation hasn't been done... American scientists are currently working over it..but still long way to go... As far as transplantation of individual parts of eye are concerned it can be done successfully without any complications... Like cornea transplant , retinal repairs etc.... If you are concerned about pain you can visit ophthalmologist he will then refer to special pain care clinic.... Hope your query is adequately answered if you still have any feel free to ask.. Regards Dr Saad Sultan
