Is Fainting A Sign Of Diabetes?

Hello, I would some answers. My mom was born in 1948 in cuba where communist Fidel Castrol control everything coming inside. What i mean everything, like new medical discoveries, etc. Okay My mom tells me that when she was younger like 15-20 she will faint in an empty stomach. Later in the early 90 s it was discovered that my mom has diabetes but type 2. Now I do tell my mom that she when she was younger her fainting was sign she already had diabetes. What do you think?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Diabetes may be present few years before it can be diagnosed. However, signs and symptoms 15 or 20 years do not look to be because of present diabetes.

Hope I have answered your question. I will be glad to answer any further question about this.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
