Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Fasting Blood Glucose Of 6.5 A Cause For Concern?
I have BP and its under control, test found i have suger level 8-9 in the morning, Dr, prescribe me ( Sitagliptin 50mg+ Metformin Hydrochloride 500mg) 1 tab at night time but i am taking now half of the tablet and found my suger lavel 6.5-7 at morning fasting I am at 60s
6.5 should be value of HbA1c which is measured to check the glucose level in the last 6 months. below value 6 is non diabetic and 6.5 is pre-diabetic which is of little concern. Do regular workout with 45 mins brisk walk and avoid eating more of carbohydrates, for example, rice, banana etc.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ravi Praksh B. S., Periodontist
