Is Fatigue And Back Pain A Symptom Of Alcohol Withdrawal?
I have concern about my husband. He used to drink a lot previously, but is almost taking no alcohol now ( once a month). His age is 41. His hand shake. He tends to forget some things that I say to him. He is experiencing fatigue, sometimes back pain and leg pain. He sleeps between 10- 12 hours a day. He is an owner as well as chef of a restaurant. So he has to do the cooking as well as marketing, for which he has to drive a lot. I just want to know is he all right? Is it normal? Does he need to see a doctor?
Hello As you mentioned in the query that from last one month he is not taking alcohol at all . Now he is feeling tremors ( very mild degree i.e. shaking ) , fatigue , back pain , leg pain. Now every thing is under control except all these symptoms regarding alcohol withdrawal . Now a counselling is very important and that too by you with love and affection & care. When such patient visit in my clinic I advise them to take intravenous dextrose + saline one or two drip / day with multivitamin injection and simple intravenous diclovin 3 ml in drip for 5-7 day only just for safety and precaution. As this treatment will alleviate pain in back ( moreover in all over body) and fatigue . Next 5-7 days he will feel shaking ( tremor ) which gradually disappear. In my opinion only consult a primary care doctor and get his opinion and treatment as mentioned above. Good luck.
