Is Fever In An Infant Post Fall From Bed A Cause For Concern?
Hi. My child 6 months old fell from the bed yesterday and cried for a minute or two and was perfectly fine afterwards. But today morning I found his body burning with fever. when checked with thermometer(underarm ), it was 100.5 which means it s 101.5. I want to know that could fall from the bed be the reason for the fever or something else is there.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
When baby is behaving absolutely normal, feeding well, no sign of inflammation or pain or touch. I think every thing is fine. The fever he has could be reaction to the physical and psychological stress she has incurred with the fall. By the way 1 degree temperature is subtracted from mouth temperature But underarm temperature, taken after drying of sweat there, is actual temperature. Give him paracetamol drops 10 drops twice or thrice (12 or 8 hourly)a day after feeding. The temperature should settle with 2-3 doses. Keep her well hydrated. In case it doesn't and otherwise also it is advised to take her to her doctor for general check up.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
