Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been exposed to the flu and didn t get a vaccination. Is it too late to get one? Would it help prevent me from getting the flu also? Nevermind. If I have to pay for a simple answer, I ll call the clinic for free. What a scam you all have going here.
If you are already having the flu you will not need to get the flu vaccine, your body will produce the antibodies needed to protect you from the flu. On the other hand you will need to have a visit with your doctor to confirm you are having flu because sometimes other infections might cause similar symptoms to flu but are not flu. In the case you are having a virus that is not flu, the flu vaccine might be helpful.
If you are in the middle of a flu season where you are living then the flu vaccine might not have enough time to work because it takes 2 weeks for the vaccine to be effective so in this case the vaccine might not be indicated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
