Is Fluctuating Platelet Count When Diagnosed With Dengue A Cause For Concern?
Hello Doc, My name is Abhinav Kumar. Actually my brother 17 years old and having dengue repotr positive. His platelet count is fluctuating (ups and down) his fever is 96.6 degree since last 4 days and no vomating. Count figure of last 4 days is: Monday Morning 1.20 lacks Monday Evening 1.06 lacks Tuesday Morning 1.15 lacks Tuesday Evening 1.05 lacks Wednesday Morning 95000 thousand Wednesday Evening 93000 thousand Thursday Morning 1.16 lacks Thursday Evening yet to be come... My question is that fluctuating is normal or abnormal.
Body immune system is responsible for the recovery of platelet count once the intensity of the dengue infection decreases. If the count decreases below 10 k,It is better to get hospitalised for monitoring.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH
