Is Flying Advisable With Painful Swollen Glands Around Ears And Neck?

Hello, I am a 29 year old female. I had my hair bleached five days ago, and now have swollen glands around my ears, temples and neck which are extremely sore and also my scalp has erupted in sores. I can not get a doctors appointment because i am due to fly out of the country for a week, my question is, will flying affect my glands/head in any way? I plan to take anti-hystemine tablets from today, and i am already using paracetamol for the pain. Is it ok for me to still fly?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have got an allergic reaction to that has led to an allergic reaction leading to sore and swollen glands in neck, around the ears and sores on scalp..
As you are due to fly, it will not hopefully cause any problem as change in atmospheric pressure can cause pain and discomfort in air filled cavities in the skull like sinuses and ears..
As of now you should start taking anti allergics /anti histamines like Levocetrizine or Allegra..
You can take Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen to relieve pain..
Apply Steroid lotion over the scalp to relieve the itching and soreness.
You can do cool compresses over the swollen glands frequently throughout the day to reduce swelling and tightness..
In case of no improvement consult an Allergist and he can advise you injectable steroid for faster relief..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
