Hello, my name is Cyl, I had a tympanoplasty surgery last 12/5/16. I m doing fine now and hearing pretty good. My question is can I fly on an airplane? I have emergency situation and needed to fly. Is it safe to do so? I appreciate your opinion regarding the matter. Thank you and God bless you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

You report to have tympanoplasty surgery last 12/5/16, and now doing fine.
Usually, flying in the airplane is recommended to be postponed at least 4 weeks after the surgery.

So, if your surgery was done last 12/5/16, and today is 05/03/17, that's enough time, so no problem to get on flight now.

Have a night flight.
