General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

A subdural hematoma is a serious brain condition that is caused when blood collects between the skull and the surface of the brain (the subdural space).

She suffers intermittent headache due to increased intracranial pressure and stretching of cerebral membranes.

This can be controlled by NSAID like ibuprofen. While she is recovering, it is important to take things easy and not to do too much too soon.

Air travel is not advisable to her as it causes severe pressure changes which could be harmful to her as she is still recovering.

Speak to your specialist for advice before flying. Depending on the severity of your subdural hematoma they may advise you not to fly for a period of time after treatment to avoid aggravating symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
