Is Flying Safe For An Infant Suffering From Bronchitis?
My 15 month old grandson has had a number of incidents of bronchiolitis requiring hospitalisation since he was 4 months. He also has a hole in his heart which is closing. Is it advisable for him to fly from Spain to South Africa presuming he is fit when they are do to travel?
Hello there I have read through your question and understand your concern. I don't think it is advisable at this point of time for your grandson to travel by air considering both his condition s specially the heart condition. The air pressure in flights is low and as a result the oxygen is also less as a result it will cause increased pressure on the heart. As the hole in his heart has still not closed it is advisable to postpone air travel for a few months. His paediatrician will be the best person to tell when he can travel safely. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
