Is Foul Smelling Vaginal Discharge A Symptom Of Hormonal Imbalance?

Hi I had my baby almost a year ago and my hormones have been crazy! I had very low or high progesterone levels I can t remember whatever is close to menopause signs. Then my menstraul cycle lasted 30 days and now my menstraul cycle is back to normal. Right now though I m experience a off smell in my vaginal discharge? Could it be bc of hormones? It s not a yeast infection or a std. What can I do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The vaginal discharge with foul smell indicates bacterial or fungal infection rather than hormone imbalance. My guidelines at present:
- Drink more liquids
- Vaginal hygiene with antiseptic liquid or soap and sitz bath with douching via epsom salt water
- Urinary alkaliser
- Prescription of anti fungal and antibiotics as per the choice of your OBGYN
- Avoid vaginal sex (if active)
- Control of blood sugar

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
