Is Gallstone Removal Recommended While Having Pale Stool And Heartburn?

i am diagnosed with a 9mm size gallstone logged in the common bile duck? and they want to remove it thru my throat- i have no pain but notice my stool color recently went to light brown/ beige- i ve had occasional intense heartburn etc but nothing implying I need to consider operating - my blood test revealed it by the liver enzymes - is it a simple process (within reason) to have it removed?

Hi
Gallstone surgery is of two types.
1) open in which an incision is made and tell bladder is removed.
2)laparoscopic in which 3 small ports are made in the abdomen and gall bladder is removed.
If your doctor told u to undergo a procedure that has to be done through throat (as you mentioned), then probably stone is in the gall bladder duct (tube) and your doctor wants to remove it through an endoscopic procedure known as ERCP.
Gallstone surgery is indicated if patient with gallstones is symptomatic and your occasional heartburn is a symptom.
Hope my answer helps you.
