Is Gargling Betadine With Water For Throat Issues Safe?

Hi, My mother has gargled with a mix of water, betadine and salt for years, as that s the way they used to fix throat problems in the Soviet Union. My boyfriend has a cold, and I would like to advise him to do this, but I just read a piece which stated that betadine was poisonous. I am now wondering: is gargling with betadine safe? Thanks!

Yes. It won’t have any long side effects of just some once don’t do it anymore also use salt for a good effect.
