Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Dear all. I have a backer s nevus type stain that appeared at the age of Hhtbrot, stain found in the rib area darker brown color of my skin is flat and without hairs. I would like to know if medically possible (technically possible) to get a tattoo on the spot to cover it and whether there is a risk to increase the risk of skin cancer ??? I consulted two doctors Sdaotm share one argues that because it s a flat spot and without Discolored for Hsnimmohofia adolescence there is no reason to cover it with a tattoo, On the other hand the second doctor says there likely to stimulate cancer cells and increase the risk of cancer. I would be happy to accept your recommendation on this issue for many months I am looking for an answer that is unequivocal and based on accurate information. Thank you very much.
Becker's nevus is due to overgrowth of the upper layer of the skin, melanocytes and hair follicles. This is a non cancerous proliferation of cells. But unnecessary tattooing in that area of birth mark may stimulate cancer cells leading to increased risk of malignancies. Hence I would agree with your second doctor's opinion and ask you to avoid tattoo over nevus.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
