Is Giving Acetaminophen And Azithromycin Safe For Viral Fever And Cough To Infants?
Hai, my son 7 and half month old, suffer from cold, cough and fever comes at night. He had heavy breathing, rhyming during his sleep, pooping too. Doctor prescribed Acetaminophen for fever, Asthakind -p for cough and Azithromcyin. 3days nebulizer. Last two days consuming, gets vomitting. Doctor said its viral fever. Is this any severe?
1. Viral fever is common among children. Usually, it is not severe and will improve within a few days (up to 10)
2. Antibiotics like azythromycin are not used for viral infection as they are ineffective. They are used in case of bacterial infection which are commonly associated with virosis (ear infection or tonsillitis as most common )
3. Supportive treatment is required instead as your doctor already prescribed.
Wish fast recovery!
